Chicago, Ill April 27, 2009 – www.powder-solutions.com – Powder-Solutions, Inc., American distributors of the USDA accepted/3A certified BFM® fitting, will reveal how to eliminate the sanitation concerns that plague bulk dairy powder processing plants to attendees at the annual American Dairy Products Institute/American Butter Institute (ADPI/ABI) Conference.

Bulk powder processing plants, in the dairy industry, traditionally use standard flex sleeves and hose clamps as powder connectors. Habitual shortcomings of standard flex sleeves and hose clamps have long been known and include everything from powder leaking between connectors and building up within connectors.

Powder leakage and build-up are two of the most common sanitation culprits in bulk powder processing. Despite being aware of these shortcomings, bulk powder processing plants in the dairy industry could not implement an alternate solution as, until recently, one was not available.

The BFM® fitting, distributed by Minneapolis, MN based Powder-Solutions, Inc., is the alternative to traditional flex sleeves and hose clamps that have long caused unsanitary conditions in bulk dairy powder processing plants.

“The BFM® fitting features a crevice free surface designed to eliminate trapped powder, and its tight snap placement eliminates the threat of powder leakage,” states Marv Deam, CEO of Powder-Solutions, Inc. “By not trapping or leaking powder, bulk powder processing plants in the dairy industry can instantly alleviate two of the larger culprits of unsanitary working conditions.”

Comprised of two basic elements, the BFM® fitting consists of a flexible sleeve with integral top and bottom stainless steel snap bands, and two matched formed spigots (welded in place). The BFM® sleeve snaps into place quickly and accurately using only an operator’s hands, helping to ensure that the cleaning and sanitizing process is no longer a time consuming hassle.

“We are very pleased to be sharing with the dairy industry leaders attending the annual ADPI/ABI conference how the BFM® fitting will create more sanitary working conditions in bulk dairy powder processing plants,” continues Deam. “We look forward to ensuring attendees leave armed with the knowledge to ensure safer bulk powder processing, and ultimately, safer consumer goods.”

Deam and Powder-Solutions, Inc. will be exhibiting the BFM® fitting at Booth 110, today through April 28 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, IL.

ABOUT POWDERS-SOLUTIONS, INC.
Powder-Solutions, Inc. is a leading distributor of the USDA accepted/3A certified BFM® fitting, the first flexible industrial connective solution specifically designed to replace the standard flexible sleeve and hose clamp assembly and address chronic sanitation and safety concerns for the bulk powder processing industry. By working closely with companies in the food, dairy, nutritional, pharmaceutical, chemical and other industries, Powder-Solutions, Inc. continues to develop and refine new strategies to assist these companies in achieving their business objectives via safe and innovative plant processes.
Shoreview, MN April 14, 2009 — http://www.ecumen.org – Senior housing and services provider Ecumen has released a new whitepaper to help others develop senior housing for those living with the challenges of behavioral Alzheimer’s and dementia.

“10 Tips from Ecumen for Developing a Successful Behavioral Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program for Senior Housing” is currently available for complimentary download by visiting The Library of Successful Aging on the Ecumen website. It was written by Ecumen team members Debbie Manthey, Director of Operations, and Janelle Meyers, Ecumen Housing Manager.

“Increasingly, senior housing professionals are seeing a subset of Alzheimer’s, when the affected person develops substantial and challenging behaviors,” write Manthey and Meyers in the whitepaper. “Many senior housing providers are forced to keep these residents heavily medicated or discharge them to a mental health hospital unit. At Ecumen, we sought to develop a better way to serve people experiencing such behaviors.”

The Ecumen whitepaper outlines lessons learned by Ecumen in the development of senior housing in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, to serve those living with the challenges of behavioral Alzheimer’s and dementia. Insights include:
• The importance of focusing on emotional intelligence in the hiring of team members
• Differences in regular memory care and behavioral Alzheimer’s and dementia care
• How to use existing resources to the advantage of those you serve and your team

“Behavioral Alzheimer’s care is not for the faint of heart,” state Manthey and Meyers in concluding their whitepaper. “However, no risk, no reward. Developing this specialized housing has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It has been a life changer.”

Visit “The Library of Successful Aging” on the Ecumen website to download a full copy of the whitepaper “10 Tips from Ecumen for Developing a Successful Behavioral Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program for Senior Housing” by Debbie Manthey, Ecumen Director of Operations, and Ecumen Housing Manager Janelle Meyers.

Ecumen leader Kathryn Roberts highlights innovation opportunities in rapidly aging society

Minneapolis, MN April 2, 2009 — http://www.ecumen.org – Senior housing and services provider Ecumen sees the aging of America as an opportunity for substantial innovation in our country. Ecumen CEO Kathryn Roberts highlights 10 emerging changes in a new blog post entitled “10 Things Ecumen Sees Changing in an Aging America.” Readers are invited to share what changes they see or want to see in an aging America.

Businesses and organizations who fail to innovate for America’s new demographic reality, risk failure, People over 50 currently represent 43 percent of all U.S. households and by 2020, the senior population in American will number 115 million. As Roberts explains, this rapidly aging demographic will not be one that stands for being warehoused in an institution or for living in a community that does not provide products and services in line with their wants and needs.

Among things changing in an aging America are:

• Portable Personal Empowerment Technology: “Portable Personal Empowerment Technology” will become a major marketplace driven by America’s seniors who desire to be connected, empowered, and living as independently and fully no matter their life stage. It will create new opportunities for senior service providers to combine high-tech and high-touch and serve people with challenges, such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
• Neighborhood Villages: Multi-generational neighborhood-based “villages,” will increasingly take shape as people desire to live fully at every age in their own homes and communities. Such villages include Beacon Hill Village in Boston and Mill City Commons in Minneapolis. Ecumen is a consultant to the Mill City Commons community.
• Collaborative Senior Housing: The financing of long-term care will significantly change with more people paying a larger portion of their services. The Government simply can’t afford to be the largest payer for such services.

“Aging is truly all about living,” says Roberts as she concludes her post by offering an ‘adios to ageism’ “This holds true even at the very end of life.”

“10 Things Ecumen Sees Changing in an Aging America” may be found by visiting the Changing Aging blog on the Ecumen website.

Consumer Resource to Answer Questions on the Basics of Arbitration, Arbitration in Contracts, and How to File and Respond to a Claim

MINNEAPOLIS, MN April 2, 2009 —www.ArbitrationAnswers.com— Forthright, an organization that provides claims administration services in the dispute resolution market, today announced the launch of a new informational consumer website aimed at guiding American consumers through the arbitration process.

The new website, www.ArbitrationAnswers.com, contains easily accessible information and resources on arbitration, arbitration service providers, other forms of alternative dispute resolution, and court litigation. The website also provides access to:

•    Answers to commonly asked questions about arbitration;
•    Links to information on the websites of three of the largest arbitration administrators – American Arbitration Association, the National Arbitration Forum, and JAMS;
•    Forms to file or respond to an arbitration claim;
• Resources to help consumers find legal services in any area of the country, and more.

“Arbitration is a fair and cost-effective way for American consumers to resolve disputes. This website will be an informative resource for consumers and further increase access to justice through the arbitration process,” said Aimee Egan, Forthright Vice President of Public Affairs. “ArbitrationAnswers.com will help consumers take control of the dispute resolution process by answering questions on the basics of arbitration, arbitration in contracts, how to file or respond to an arbitration claim, as well as where to find legal services for arbitration or litigation.”

“ArbitrationAnswers.com will be a living site, updated with additional resources and the most current arbitration information, and constantly evolving to better respond to consumer needs and feedback,” continued Egan.

Arbitration is a way for consumers to resolve disputes outside of the courtroom. Parties bring an arbitration claim before a neutral third-party individual known as an arbitrator – often a former judge or experienced lawyer – who has been assigned to hear the case. In arbitration, each party has the right to be represented by an attorney, but may proceed without one. Once both parties have presented their evidence to the arbitrator, the arbitrator considers the facts, applies the law and issues a decision. Arbitration decisions are generally binding but must be confirmed by a court to be legally enforced. To learn more about the arbitration process, please visit: www.ArbitrationAnswers.com.

“The CFO’s View of Accounts Payable: Cash is King” available for complimentary download this week

Rochester, MN March 24, 2009 — http://www.metaviewer.com – Metafile, a Minnesota-based content management firm dedicated to providing paperless financial innovations, is helping detail how accounts payable (AP) departments can help offset the adverse effects the current economic crisis is having on companies by implementing best practices in cash management.

“The CFO’s View of Accounts Payable: Cash is King,” an Aberdeen Group benchmark study report, details how the unique position of accounts payable department’s cash management practices can benefit their company as a whole.

“Best cash management practices include everything from extending Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) to capturing early payment and volume discounts,” states the report. “If properly automated, the typical accounts payable department is uniquely positioned to oversee and integrate these tactics.”

In total, The Aberdeen Group’s study evaluated 160 enterprises. The enterprises deemed as best in class based on the overall cost experienced in processing single invoices reported marked similarities in accounts payable processes:
• 62% leveraged online or web-based reporting tools
• 69% possessed enterprise- level visibility in account payable processes

“As detailed in the report, more companies are establishing best in class status by syncing accounts payable objectives with company objectives and integrating the use of online reporting tools,” states Jim Mandt, Metafile’s Vice President of Technical Support. “Automation designed to offer support and visibility in these areas is a key factor we’ve witnessed in successful AP departments.”

Specific recommendations offered by The Aberdeen Group to companies hoping to experience the economic benefits afforded by best practices in cash management include:
• Moving towards a fully automated and paperless financial environment
• Establishing links between your AP department and overall business goals
• Developing cash disbursement strategies designed to optimize working capital

“We are pleased to have supported The Aberdeen Group’s latest report,” concludes Mandt. “It is our hope that by implementing best practices detailed by The Aberdeen Group, companies can move into best in class status and avoid or at least offset the adverse effects inherent in today’s economic climate.”

A complimentary copy of the report “The CFO’s View of Accounts Payable: Cash is King” is available courtesy of Metafile.
